As I mentioned in my latest Shaklee vlog post, I can't believe how fast the last two months have gone. It's been eight weeks since I first started using the Shaklee 180 Turnaround Kit, and I finally saw results this past month. Just to recap my first month, I didn't lose any weight -- I'm still convinced this was due to portion control and lack of exercise.
Last month though, I really focused on what I ate when I was not drinking or eating a Shaklee shake or meal-in-a-bar. I also tried to limit my carbs, which I believe is essential for my body type. I didn't mention it in my last blog post, but I was concerned that I was consuming too much sugar with the Shaklee shakes and meal bars. Well, I finally got around to doing the math and a basic Shaklee smoothie with (no sugar-added) almond milk is only 200 calories with 18g carbs and 10g sugar. Two shakes a day comes in at under 40g carbs and 20g sugar, which isn't bad at all! The meal bars have a bit more sugar/carbs, but I'm only eating those when I'm traveling and can't make a shake. As long as I have a sensible dinner, the Shaklee 180 plan stays within my ideal range of daily sugars 🙂
The good news is that my efforts paid off and I lost 4.6 pounds last month! That might not seem like a lot, but it's huge for me because it is very difficult for me to lose weight.
I hope the momentum continues because I have been working really hard to prepare for my first 5K later this month. Running a 5K has been a goal of mine for awhile now, and I'm really proud to be able to accomplish it while I'm participating in the Shaklee Blogger Program -- which was a motivating factor when I first signed up for it two months back.
I hope to be able to share pictures with you next month of me running the Color Me Rad 5K, as well as another update with pounds and inches lost. I'm still extremely happy to have been selected for the program and I'm determined to lose that pesky 20-25 pounds that have been haunting me for so long.
