As few months back I had the very cool opportunity to screen Disney Channel's newest movie, Adventures in Babysitting, as well as interview Sabrina Carpenter and Sophia Carson about their roles in the updated classic.

I was a fan of the original 80s film, so not only was I pleased with the remake, but excited that I could share the new version with my 12-year-old daughter (who already happened to be a fan of both Sabrina and Sophia!).

Here's a peek at my interview as well as details of Adventures in Babysitting, which premieres on Disney Channel June 24 at 8pm EST.

Sabrina, had you seen the movie before, and had you heard that they were making it?

Sabrina: Absolutely. Well, actually, I didn't hear that they were making it, because Disney came to both Sofia and we auditioned with each other. If I'm correct, I think we were the first to read for the roles. We're very lucky that it, that it worked out perfectly. I did see the movie. I was a big fan. My mom was a big fan of the movie. To be able to create a new version of such a classic, beloved tale, for a new generation, was something I was honored to do.

So are you guys more of a Lola or Jenny?

Sophia:  I would say I'm kind of an in between.  Lola is this really cool, free spirited young girl who isn't afraid to just live life, despite the consequences of sometimes making irresponsible decisions.  But she's really passionate about her art.  And, a very strong girl.  And I'm also very passionate … I think we both are, about what we do about our music and acting.  And we're both independent girls.  We both have really strong, incredible moms.  And they taught us to be strong girls, or represent girl power.  And Lola and Jenny are both like that.

What was your favorite part of the movie?

Sophia:   My favorite part of the movie... One of my favorite scenes, besides where we first meet, because I think that totally shows the dynamic of these two new babysitters and gets you ready for the adventure that you're about to go on, is the rap battle.

Sabrina:  I love the simple bathroom makeover scene for Jenny because it's a time where she's not... She's not getting a full makeover where they're glamming her up and making her look like someone she's not.  But, just kind of letting her hair down in a way where she can be a little bit more adventurous like Lola. It just kind of shows you what she's taken from this whole adventure that they've had together, and how she's a little bit more confident than she was before.

I also love the rap battle scene. It was just such a fun scene to shoot.  It was so high energy.  The music was awesome.  The energy in the club was great.  The kids were so cute and so hysterical.  We had a great shoot.

What is it like to be a role model for young girls?

Sophia:  It is an honor to be able to be in a position where we can influence young girls.  And it's a big responsibility, but it's a beautiful responsibility because as we were growing up, we looked up to actors and singers to be our role models as well.  And their voice, and what they stand for always influenced us so much.  I think we're very lucky.

Sabrina:  And also the fact that I think Sophia and I both had such big dreams and aspirations. We've been able to figure out those dreams and not only get to do them every day, but love what we do every day— hopefully it's an inspiration to girls everywhere, and boys, to figure out what they want to do, and make sure that whatever they do in life, that they love it, so that way they don't have to work a day in their life.

Who were your role models growing up?

Sophia:  My role model's always been my mom.  She's the most incredible woman in the world.  I always strive to be just a little bit like her every day.  Even if it's just, like, 10% of what she is, that would be enough, 'cause she is truly, uh, my hero.

Sabrina:  My mom and dad, and my older sisters.  My whole family. The Carpenter bunch is kind of a special bunch.

Adventures in Babysitting premieres June 24 on Disney Channel!

Adventures in Babysitting brings together two unlikely friends when a tedious evening for contentious babysitters, Jenny Parker (Sabrina Carpenter) and Lola Perez (Sofia Carson), turns into an exciting journey in the big city as they hunt for one of the kids who somehow snuck away. The story unfolds when Jenny and Lola, two girls with distinctly different personalities, both interview for a coveted internship opportunity and accidentally swap phones. In need of extra cash, audacious Lola nominates herself when the Andersons call Jenny looking for a last-minute babysitter.

Meanwhile, dependable Jenny is already set to babysit the Cooper family for the evening. Lola’s first attempt at babysitting takes an unforeseen turn after Jenny discovers what Lola has done, and Jenny takes the kids to the Andersons to help rectify the situation. However, this leads all of them on an unexpected and exciting adventure of a lifetime

Special thanks to Disney Channel for hosting me for the Adventures in Babysitting preview. All opinions are my own.
