I adore this fun burlap reindeer banner and gift or storage jar. It's seriously a super simple holiday craft that you can make in minutes or give as a gift for a friend to make!
Frankly, this little burlap reindeer banner is probably one of my favorite holiday crafts because of it's ease. The kids can get most of it done, if they want to craft along with you, and then they'll have something they made as part of the family's holiday decor that they'll be super proud of.
And if you decide instead that it should be a gift, by giving it as a little kit, you're giving the recipient an opportunity to craft with their kids and likewise make something they can enjoy. It's just so perfect.
So, if you're ready to break out the scissors and make a fun Christmas garland, let's get making!
Fun Burlap Reindeer Banner and Gift or Storage Jar
Now, before we actually get the scissors out, you may be wondering what all you can do with a Christmas garland.
I mean, I respect that, I haven't always decorated with garlands, so I have had to figure out what works for me and you'll have to do the same.
My suggestions for decorating with holiday garlands like this burlap reindeer garland are:
- Mantle Drape - Just drape the garland across the mantel, hanging in front of or behind the stockings you plan to hang up.
- Christmas Tree Garland - Depending on the size of your garland and how you decorate your Christmas tree, you can wrap your reindeer garland around the tree as part of your standard Christmas tree decor.
- Window Bunting - For anyone who decorates for Christmas, you have to know that decorating windows can be a tricky situation. But having a garland to stretch across your curtains or even an open window makes decorating them a snap!

How to Make This Burlap Reindeer Banner and Gift or Storage Jar
- Make your jar first by trimming your napkin to fit nicely on the jar. I cut off 3 of the four sides, leaving just the clean reindeer.
- Coat the jar with a layer of mod podge, then immediately place the prepared reindeer napkin on the surface of the jar. Take care to place it carefully because the napkin is thin and fragile--and will tear if you try to move it after the napkin comes in contact with the mod podge.
- Coat the napkin-covered jar with a second layer of mod podge, just to provide extra protection for the napkin. Allow this second layer of mod podge to dry completely.
- Cut out the triangle pennant shapes from the burlap. I went with 4-inches wide by 6 inches long.
- Hot glue the eyes to the burlap pennants in the top corners.
- Hot glue one pom pom to the bottom of each pennant.
- Place the pennants in the order you plan to have in the final project.
- Cut the twine or string to the length of the pennants all laid-out, plus 1 foot on each side, for additional space.
- Using one clothespin on each side of each of the pennants, clip the pennants in place on the twine.
- Hang on the mantle and when you're ready to store it, pop it in the jar.
And that's it! Seriously, that quick and you have a fun burlap reindeer banner and a cute storage container to go with it. If you're loving this easy holiday craft idea, but you're not quite ready to break out the pom poms, be sure to pin this to your favorite holiday DIYs board on Pinterest so you can find it again fast and easy!
