There is no such thing as a typical head injury claim. Different types of accident and different severities of injury can lead to considerably different claims and where one person may attract a claim of £500, another more serious injury could result in a claim totaling $50,000 or more. Injuries may arise as a result of accidents at work, on private premises, or on the road and even this can influence the amount of compensation you should expect to receive.

Minor Head Injuries

A minor head injury, which typically means that the injury will heal completely in a short space of time and leave no permanent damage, will usually attract a claim of anywhere between $1,000 and $6,000. The more serious the injury and the greater the negligence on the part of the other party, the higher the claim is likely to be.

Brain Damage Claims

Minor brain damage claims can attract claims of up to $25,000. Minor bran damage usually means that good recovery is made though some minor symptoms such as poor concentration may still exist. For moderate brain damage, the claim is more likely to be heading towards $75,000 while serious brain damage can lead to a claim of $200,000 or more.

Post-Traumatic Stress

Post-traumatic stress is a problem in some patients that suffer personal injuries. Where full recovery is made within 3 years there is likely to be a claim of around $3,000 while continuing minor symptoms increases this figure to $6,000. Moderate on-going symptoms will lead to a claim of about $20,000 and serious on-going symptoms will attract a potential claim of more than $30,000.

Compensation Claim Figures

The size of compensation figure due will depend heavily on a number of factors including the severity of the injury, the cause of the accident, and even the type of accident that occurred. You should keep medical records and ensure that you instruct a personal injury solicitor as soon as possible to ensure you have the greatest chance of winning a fair figure.
