Floral Skull Halloween Wreath
The best part about this wreath, though isn't in the final look (although that's pretty spectacular, honestly), it's that you can find everything needed to make this wreath at the dollar store.
So, not only is this a quick DIY Halloween craft, but it's also a really inexpensive one. Even the dark flowers can be found at the dollar store during Halloween season.
Which means you can make this wreath without breaking the bank!
How to Decorate with Halloween Wreaths
Wreaths are perfect accessories for doors. I am pretty sure that's why they were invented. But, let's be creative for a minute. There are a lot of ideas for decorating with Halloween wreaths that don't include hanging them on your door.
You can put a wreath on the doors of your kitchen cabinets, small mini-wreaths on each one. You can add a wreath to the wall in an entryway decorated for Halloween.
There are really a ton of options. You can even lose the flat surface to hang a wreath from and have it sitting on something like a shelf, table, or even around the neck of a dress form!
If you're ready to make a fantastic skull wreath for Halloween, let's get making!
What You Need to Make a Floral Skull Halloween Wreath
- 1 12-inch Wire Wreath Frame
- 5-6 ¼-inch Wooden Beads
- 6-7 Chenille Wires
- 20-30 Floral Wires
- 3-4 Bouquets Faux Black/Purple/Blue Dark Roses
- Plastic Bats, Rats or a Snake
- Plastic Skull
- Acrylic Paint in:
- Metallic White
- Blue
- Black
- Mod Podge or Craft Sealant
- Paintbrush
- Wire Cutters
- Hot Glue Gun & Glue
How to Make a Floral Skull Halloween Wreath
- Start by painting the eyeballs on the wooden beads by threading the bead on a chenille wire to hold it up and painting the white metallic as the main part of the eyeball, then blue for the iris and the black as the pupil any desired details. Paint 5-6 eyeballs and allow the paint to dry completely before sealing with Mod Podge or other craft sealant.
- Pop off the tops of the faux flowers, then wrap a floral wire around the base of each flower and secure it to the wreath. Continue securing the flowers to the wreath, pressing them together until the entire form is covered in the mixed flowers.
- Using wire cutters, cut two holes about 1 inch apart in the back of the plastic skull.
- Thread a chenille wire through the two holes in the back of the skull and use this chenille wire to affix the skull to the wreath form securely.
- Use the chenille wires attached to the wood bead eyeballs to affix the eyeballs to the wreath frame randomly across the entire wreath.
- Hot glue the bats or other plastic animals to the flowers, on top of the petals so they look like they are crawling across the flowers and enjoy!
And that's it! Such a quick Halloween craft project that you can make in just a few minutes. It definitely makes a statement on the door, too, or even above your entry table. Can you imagine the spook-fun decorating you can do with this skull wreath as the centerpiece?!
