I wanted a spooky bath bomb but was having trouble finding any in the store. So I made these epic Halloween Bath Bombs that are perfect for spooky fizz!
One of the things I like best about these embed bath bombs is the, well, embedded sprinkles. They're super fun and add so much character.
And you might be wondering: isn't having sprinkles in bath bombs going to make a sticky, sugary mess?!
No. Absolutely not. There's so much more bathwater than there is sugar in these sprinkles, you won't ever notice. Plus, who isn't rinsing off after a bath?! I mean, especially if you have red and black soap colorant floating around in the tub with you.
So the problem, if there even was one, is taken care of for you, no questions asked. Awesome, right?!

What Do You Do with Halloween Bath Bombs?
Oh, you're not a "soak in the tub with a bath bomb on a Tuesday night for no reason but to relax" kind of person like me? Don't worry, I didn't use to be this way. But with all the added stress lately and the kids getting a little older, I feel like taking 15 to 20 minutes for myself in a hot bath once a week is a luxury I deserve.
But bath bombs are definitely for more than just that once in a while relax-cation in the tub. You can infuse them with essential oils, if you're into that. You can use them to clean your toilets (seriously, SERIOUSLY!). Decorate your bathroom (that's what a few of my halloween bath bombs are doing right now).
Or you can even do at-home mani/pedis using bath bombs.
My favorite thing to do with bath bombs though is to gift them. Everyone loves an excuse to take a relaxing bath and that's the REAL gift of bath bombs!
If you're ready to make a slightly spooky and fun halloween bath bomb, let's get making!
What You Need to Make Halloween Bath Bombs
- 1 cup baking soda
- ½ cup citric acid
- ½ cup cornstarch
- ¼ cup epsom salts
- 2 tablespoon melted coconut oil
- ½ teaspoon essential oil blend desired (or strawberry flavoring oil like I did)
- 2 teaspoon rubbing alcohol
- ¾ teaspoon deep red mica powder
- 1 tablespoon activated charcoal
- 2-4 tablespoons murder sprinkles blend (I used: https://www.etsy.com/listing/726402354/bloody-good-time-sprinkle-mix)
How to Make Halloween Bath Bombs
- Whisk together the baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch and epsom salts.
- In a second bowl, combine the melted coconut oil, essential oil blend and alcohol together, mixing well.
- Add liquid ingredients 1 teaspoon at a time to the dry ingredients, mixing it together slowly so as not to start the fizzy reaction.
- Separate about ½ of the bath bomb mixture into a second bowl. To this bowl of bath bomb mixture, add in the red mica powder and mix well. If you want more color, add some additional mica powder in 1 teaspoon increments.
- To the other bowl of bath bomb mixture, add in the activated charcoal powder and mix well. If you want more color, add some additional charcoal powder in 1 teaspoon increments.
- Dust the bottom of one side of one of the bath bomb molds with cornstarch. The sprinkle side tends to come out on its own, so do not bother to dust that side with cornstarch.
- Place about 1 teaspoon of sprinkles in the non-dusted side of the bath bomb mold.
- Immediately pack the bath bomb mold with the sprinkles overly full of the red mixture. You want there to be excess mixture to help bond the two sides of the mold together.
- To the cornstarch dusted half of the bath bomb mold, fill it about ½ full of red bath bomb mixture, then finish filling it with the black mixture, overfilling as with the other half of the bath bomb.
- Press the two sides of the bath bomb mold together, grinding and pressing them to force the two together.
- Allow the bath bombs to rest in the mold for up to 24 hours before gently tapping the side of the mold to release the bombs.
- Use your bath bombs immediately or store in an airtight container until you’re ready to use!
And that's it! All it takes is some simple ingredients, a few minutes and a little patience then you have a fantastic bath bomb for halloween!
