IT Bath Bombs
What Can You Do with IT Bath Bombs?
Even if you're not planning a movie night with your favorite horror movie and a slightly creepy one-eyed bath bomb, that's ok. Sometimes a bath's not the thing for me.
But bath bombs can be used for more than just a relaxing time in the tub. You can infuse the bath bombs with essential oils and bring them in the shower. You can use them to help clean your disposal in your kitchen sink (no really). You can even use them to decorate your bathroom or do at-home mani/pedis using the bath bombs to soften your calluses.
For me, though, I love to gift bath bombs It's like giving someone a reason to take a relaxing bath! How fun!
If you're ready to make a spooky and fun IT bath bomb, let's get making!
What You Need to Make IT Bath Bombs
- 1 cup baking soda
- ½ cup citric acid
- ½ cup cornstarch
- ¼ cup epsom salts
- 2 tablespoon melted coconut oil
- ½ teaspoon essential oil blend desired (or cherry flavoring oil, since that’s what I wanted
- 2 teaspoon rubbing alcohol
- ¾ teaspoon yellow gold mica powder
- ¾ teaspoon deep red mica powder
- 2-4 tablespoons IT Pennywise sprinkles blend (I used: https://www.etsy.com/dk-en/listing/726250048/pennywise-it-inspired-halloween-sprinkle)
- Bath Bomb Molds
- Bowls
- Whisk
- Measuring Spoons and Cups
How to Make IT Bath Bombs
- Whisk together the baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch and epsom salts.
- In a second bowl, combine the melted coconut oil, essential oil blend and alcohol together, mixing well.
- Add liquid ingredients 1 teaspoon at a time to the dry ingredients, mixing it together slowly so as not to start the fizzy reaction.
- Separate about ⅓ of the bath bomb mixture into a second small bowl. To this smaller bowl of bath bomb mixture, add in the yellow mica powder and mix well. If you want more color, add some additional mica powder in 1 teaspoon increments.
- To the larger bowl of bath bomb mixture, add in the red mica powder and mix well. If you want more color, add some additional mica powder in 1 teaspoon increments.
- Dust the bottom of one side of one of the bath bomb molds with cornstarch. The sprinkle side tends to come out on its own, so do not bother to dust that side with cornstarch.
- Place about 1 teaspoon of sprinkles in the non-dusted side of the bath bomb mold.
- Immediately pack the bath bomb mold with the sprinkles overly full of the red mixture. You want there to be excess mixture to help bond the two sides of the mold together.
- To the cornstarch dusted half of the bath bomb mold, fill it about ⅓ full of yellow bath bomb mixture, then finish filling it with the red mixture, overfilling as with the other half of the bath bomb.
- Press the two sides of the bath bomb mold together, grinding and pressing them to force the two together.
- Allow the bath bombs to rest in the mold for up to 24 hours before gently tapping the side of the mold to release the bombs.
- Use your bath bombs immediately or store in an airtight container until you’re ready to use!
And that's it! Just some simple ingredients you probably have around the house, a few minutes and some patience waiting while they set up, then you have a fun bath bomb for movie night!
