If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you know how much I love Sam’s Club. Even though we are a small family, I still find convenience in buying in bulk and I just can’t beat the prices on many of their fresh foods, like fruits and vegetables.
Sam’s Club recently invited me to participate in the “Simply Delicious Meal” Challenge, where I was given a common ingredient found at Sam’s Club and I was asked to create a simple, gourmet-tasting dish for dinner and dessert. My “secret ingredient” was Ambrosia apples, which unfortunately were out of stock at my Sam’s Club– clearly they are very popular this time of year! I substituted Honeycrisp apples which are equally delicious, and can be found more readily.
For me, apples are a complete comfort food that are particularly perfect in fall desserts packed with cinnamon and sugar. I know I am overwhelmed by the thought of making homemade apple pie (a fall dessert staple), so I decided to make a simpler version of the classic with just a few basic ingredients that can be found at Sam’s Club. For my Simply Delicious Mini Apple Dumplings, I purchased a 4lb bag of Honeycrisp apples for $6.98 and a 4-pack of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls for $6.48. I had the rest of the ingredients at home, but Sam’s Club has great deals on holiday baking supplies like sugar.
Mini Apple Dumplings

Makes 8 Mini Apple Dumplings
Ingredients:
2 medium honeycrisp apples sliced
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tablespoon of cinnamon
1 8oz can of Pillsbury crescent rolls
1 tablespoon butter
Directions:
1. Mix sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon in medium bowl.

2. Peel 2 apples. Cut each one into 4 wedges and then edge wedge into 4 slices.

3. Roll apple slices into sugar mixture.

4. Separate crescents and lightly butter each one.

5. Place 3-4 slices of apples on top of crescent(wide part). Roll crescent around apple slices.

6. Place on greased baking sheet, bake at 375 for 20 min or until golden brown
7. Brush butter on top of dumplings once removed from oven

Oh-my-goodness, these Mini Apple Dumplings were so delicious! I served them warm with ice cream for dessert, and then cold the next day as breakfast pastries
I loved how it only took 2 apples to make this versatile dessert, and since purchased a 4lb bag of Honeycrisp apples at Sam’s Club, I had plenty left over to make my main course, which I will be debuting later this week!
As for those extra crescents? I made Mummy Hot Dogs for Halloween!
