These Pumpkin Spice Fried Apple Rings are a yummy fall treat! Coated with pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon and sugar, they have all the delicious flavors of the season and are super easy to make at home. Learn how to make fried apple rings with the recipe below.

Fall is here and I am so happy about it! It's finally time to bring out all the apple and pumpkin flavored recipes! Today I have a yummy fall dessert made from sliced apples that are coated in a batter and fried. Sound amazing? It totally is!

For a bit of a twist on the classic cinnamon sugar fried apple rings recipe, pumpkin pie spice has been added to the batter making these Pumpkin Spice Fried Apple Rings! This way you have two of the best flavors of the season in one amazing dessert.

Pumpkin Spice Fried Apple Rings Recipe

For an even more decadent dessert, dip these fried apple rings in this 1-ingredient Crock Pot Caramel Sauce.

Pumpkin Spice Fried Apple Rings Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 large Gala apples
  • oil, for frying

For the batter:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or 1 cup milk & 1 teaspoon vinegar)
  • 1 large egg

Cinnamon sugar topping:

  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon

How to Make Fried Apple Rings

1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine flour, baking powder, nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, sugar and salt.

2. In a separate bowl, whisk egg and buttermilk.

3. Add the egg mixture into the flour mixture and stir until combined.

4. Slice the apples into ¼-inch-thick rounds.

5. Cut each apple slice into rings, using a circle cookie cutter.

6. Using a smaller cookie cutter, cut out the center core of each apple slice. Discard center.

7. Add 3-4 inches of canola oil to a large heavy-bottomed pan set over medium heat.

8. Line a baking rack or tray with paper towels.

9. Once the oil is "popping" begin by dipping each apple slice in the batter, shaking off any excess then place it into the oil.

10. Flip over the apple slices occasionally so that they brown on all sides evenly with tongs.

11. Place the apple rings on the paper towel-lined tray.

12. Sprinkle fried apple rings with cinnamon-sugar topping.
