Cruising is an awesome way to travel. If you haven’t tried it, you have no idea what you’re missing! Besides access to unlimited food, entertainment, relaxation, and of course, FUN, you can visit some incredible destinations around the world.
Here’s a look at some of the amazing places you can visit by cruise ship:
Alaska
Perhaps one of the most awe-inspiring destinations, Alaska should be at the top of everyone’s must visit list— and seeing it by cruise ship is the way to go as you can sail through the majestic Glacier Bay and Tracy Arm Fjord with views of glaciers and wildlife that you won’t get on land.
You’ll want to plan your Alaskan cruise well in advance, as the itineraries only run from May-August. The shorter season is to avoid winter weather, but rest assured the wait will be worth it! If you want a sneak peek of one of the excursions you’ll be able to experience, be sure to see my post on The Best of Juneau.
Hawaii
Hawaii by cruise ship? Yes, it’s totally possible! With seasonal itineraries from Los Angeles, including the new 15-day Carnival Journeys, cruisers can island hop to four of the most popular islands: Oahu, Maui, The Big Island and Kauai.
As someone who visited two of Hawaii’s islands on a single land based vacation, I can tell you firsthand how time-consuming it is to travel to more than one island… Let alone four in one trip! Being able to see so much of Hawaii’s natural beauty while only unpacking your suitcase once is the ultimate way to travel.
Bermuda
Those in the northeast have easy access to the lovely island of Bermuda where the ship docks for one or more days. This gives cruisers ample time to relax on Bermuda’s famous pink sand beaches (my favorite is Warwick Long Bay!), go shopping and/or imbibe one, or both, of Bermuda’s National Drinks— The Dark N’ Stormy & Rum Swizzle.
The beauty of a Bermuda cruise is that you have two vacations in one: plenty of sea days to enjoy all of the amenities on board the ship, and a few days in port where you can come and go as you please.
Europe
If there’s one cruise that I can recommend that’s truly amazing, it’s the Mediterranean. Having the opportunity to visit a new city or country each day of the voyage is what makes cruising so unique. Imagine waking up in Venice, Italy; Athens, Greece; or Barcelona, Spain— then spending an entire day exploring the city’s grand architecture, ruins or museums before you’re back on the ship and ready to do it all over again!
In 2018, Carnival Horizon will sail a variety of spectacular Mediterranean itineraries with port calls throughout Italy, France, Spain, Croatia, and Greece.
Caribbean
Almost everyone knows that you can cruise to the Caribbean, with the Bahamas, Grand Cayman, and Mexico being the most popular destinations. But did you know you can also sail down to the Southern Caribbean? The Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Barbados, Aruba, and Curacao are just a few of the countries you can explore.
Alternatively, the Western Caribbean itinerary includes exotic ports of call in Belize and Honduras.
With so many amazing cruise destinations to choose from, the hard part will be deciding where to go first! Which leads to the question…
