These adorable Turkey Treat Bags are perfect for Thanksgiving party favors or as a fun craft idea for kids to make on Turkey Day.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and in addition to planning the perfect turkey day feast, I'm making a few different crafts to give to the little ones attending our holiday dinner. My first creation is Thanksgiving Turkey Treat Bags, or simply Turkey Candy Bags, stuffed with Reese's Pieces candies. I used this brand of candy because it's a crowd favorite, but any fall colored candy would work just as well.

You could make these guys in advance or set up a craft table for the kids to assemble after dinner (parent supervision is required if using a hot glue gun). Also, if you're hosting a Friendsgiving, these turkey treat bags would make great party favors!

Materials:

  • White Tulle (Use rectangle tulle from a roll or tulle pre-cut circles)
  • Pipe cleaners (red, tan, orange and yellow)
  • Reese's Pieces (or your favorite mix of candies in fall colors!)
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue (hot glue or another strong glue)
  • Scissors
  • Small clear hair elastics
  • Optional: clear treat bags or sandwich bags

Directions:

1. Place candies in the middle of your tulle. {Tulle from a roll may be used (cut to 16”) or pre-cut tulle circles.} Secure the tulle closed with a clear hair elastic. Leave the excess tulle on the back to create “feathers” Optional: if you want extra protection for the candy, use a clear bag to place the treats in and then place the tulle over the top.

2. To form the turkey head, simply cut a tan pipe cleaner in half (approximately 6”). Start at one end, and roll the pipe cleaner until about 2 inches are left at the end.

3. Cut a 1” piece from an orange pipe cleaner and slide it through the outer coil of the tan pipe cleaner. Push the ends together to form a beak, and twist slightly so it stays together.

4. Cut a 2” piece from a red pipe cleaner. Simply wrap it over the top of the beak (facing down) and twist to create the wattle.

5. Glue the eyes onto the sides of the tan rolled pipe cleaner.

6. Cut a 6” piece from a yellow pipe cleaner. From the end into a “W” shape and bend the straight leftover end to form the leg/foot.

7. Lay the treat bag down (rubber band/excess tulle or “feathers” in the back) and press the head through the top and legs through the bottom/front of the tulle.
